The problem

Why parents need a better option

Clinic visits can miss the mark.

Travel. Waiting rooms. Urgent care with a 3-hour wait. The ER as a last resort. A sick, fussy child in a cold exam room — and when a child is distressed, a doctor often can't see the eardrum at all and ends up guessing. Then a high deductible bill. Do it again next time.

Middle of the night. No answers.

Your child is pulling at their ear at 2am. The clinic opens at 9. Urgent care is an hour wait. The telehealth doc can't see anything without an image. You wait and hope.

Current home devices don't work.

Existing home devices are designed after clinical instruments — rigid, awkward, uncomfortable and intimidating even in a doctor's hands, let alone a parent's. Impractical for most families.

There has never been a home device simple enough to use. To solve ALL of these problems.

Share images directly with any provider or telehealth service of your choice, or use Zipline's virtual care services.* AI analysis is available today for non-ear/non-skin images; AI analysis of ear and skin images unlocks in Phase 2.

The platform

One imager. A growing family of attachments.

The Iris™ lineup

Choose your probe.

Every Iris™ probe captures a clear, detailed eardrum image — sharp enough to see what's there, share with a doctor, and compare over time. For close-up imaging viewed on a phone screen, sensor design and optics matter more than resolution numbers. Think of it like phone cameras: every modern smartphone takes a great photo — some people want the extra detail. Choose based on what matters to you.

Iris™ Standard

Beyond the ear canal

One camera. A world to explore.

The Iris™ imager is a removable HD macro camera — and once you've looked inside an ear, everything else gets interesting.

Learn anatomy for real

Kids don't just read about the eardrum — they see their own. Ear canal, skin, scalp, hair: real anatomy, up close, on a phone screen.

Explore the everyday

A beetle's shell. A flower petal. The weave of a shirt. A coin's mint marks. Macro detail turns ordinary things into discoveries.

Reach where nothing else can

Inside a drain. Down a braided cable sleeve. The inside of a keyboard or a watch. A camera a few millimeters wide goes where no phone can.

Ear hygiene

See what's there. See it change over time.

Use the Iris™ camera to see inside an ear before and after — whether you use a flushing technique or the included wax removal scoops.

See it in action

Watch real exams. Real families.

Watch how comfortable and effortless it is — even for wiggly infants. Real children, real homes, no scripts. These videos show the Jumbo™ ear imaging prototype — our Phase 2 free upgrade, not the Phase 1 kit that ships first.

The Zipline app

Your family's health, in one place

Android, iOS, and web — with encrypted cloud storage. The companion to your device and the hub for your family's imaging over time.

Home & Accounts
Main, family, and physician accounts — all in one place.
Family Member View
Each person's imaging history, notes, and AI descriptions over time.
Capture
Live view with guided capture for stills and video.

Family accounts with subaccounts

One master account covers the whole family — individual subaccounts for each member, or choose to have multiple master accounts.

Encrypted cloud and local storage

Every image, video, and note is stored with end-to-end encryption. Your data is yours — private, protected, and accessible across devices.

AI

For non-ear, non-skin images, AI analyzes normally. For ear canal, eardrum, or skin images, the app automatically detects this and declines to analyze — instead it lets you export the photo to use with general AI tools like Claude, Gemini, or ChatGPT on your own. Text-based AI Q&A is always available.

Phase 1: AI declines to analyze ear/skin images. Phase 2 (~12 months): AI unlocks observational descriptions of ear/skin images — no condition names, no probabilities, no diagnosis.

Direct sharing with anyone

Send images, video, and notes by text, email, or link — with your provider, a telehealth service of your choice, friends, or family. Media and notes can also be exported or imported into the app.

Virtual care options*

Share images with any provider or telehealth service. Zipline Health Virtual Visits — integrated async or live visits — Coming soon. Browse partner telehealth options anytime.

No monthly fee for the app itself

Device buyers get free app activation — no subscription to use the app. AI analysis, storage, and virtual care services are pay-as-you-go, drawn from your account balance as used. A small monthly infrastructure fee ($0.99) applies to keep your cloud account active. Load what you need, pay only for what you use.

How it works

Six steps to a clear view

1

Unbox and connect

Connect the Iris™ imager to your Android phone/tablet or USB-C iPad. Single camera feed — choose Iris™, front camera, or back camera.

2

Set up your family in the app

Create a master account with individual subaccounts for each family member — or choose to have multiple master accounts.

3

Inspect and clean

Use the Iris™ probe to look inside the ear canal, then use the included wax removal scoops as needed. See before and after in real time.

4

Record and capture

Record video — the app extracts the best frames automatically. Images and notes are stored encrypted in your account.

5

AI, when it's allowed to help

For non-ear/non-skin images, run AI analysis normally. For ear or skin images, the app declines to analyze and lets you export the photo to a general AI tool of your choice (Claude, Gemini, ChatGPT). Observational AI description of ear/skin images unlocks in Phase 2, about 12 months out.

6

Share with whoever you choose*

Share images, video, and notes by text, email, or link — with your provider, a telehealth service of your choice, friends, or family.

See inside. Know more. Act smarter.

From the hand-built era.

Early units are built by hand in small batches — the very first personally by our founder, the engineer who designed them. From there, assembly passes to a small team of highly skilled technicians who build each device exactly the same way: one at a time, every component inspected before it goes in, every finished unit individually tested before it ships.

Eventually we'll transition to production tooling and volume manufacturing — and when that happens, the hand-built era ends for good. Early orders come from the hand-built era, with a numbered certificate, hand-signed by the founder.

First ordered, first built, first delivered — order sequence matters within each phase
Full refund available any time before your order enters production
Phase 1 ships as a hygiene/inspection product — no FDA registration required. Phase 2 ships only after Class I registration and biocompatibility testing are complete.
Compatible with mid-range & flagship Android and USB-C iPad

Not compatible with any iPhone model, budget or entry-level Android phones, or older Lightning connector iPads.

Supporting low-income families

$5 to $15 from every order — depending on tier — goes into the Healthy Ears Fund. Here is exactly how it works: every device the fund provides is supplied at our manufacturing cost — we take no profit on any of them. For families in poverty, the fund covers that cost completely. For low-income families above that line, the fund covers part of the cost on a sliding scale and the family pays the rest — which lets the same dollars reach a much wider range of families. Ear troubles don't check your income first. We don't think seeing inside should either.

Our Story

Built because a father was frustrated — and right

My brother Chris's son Braeden had ear infection after ear infection. Every time: a car trip, a waiting room, a rushed appointment, a prescription. Chris said it plainly — "You have to be able to check at home and contact a doctor without all of this." He was right. That frustration became Zipline Health.

We built a self-positioning camera probe precise enough to capture clear, shareable ear images, connected it to an app that a parent can operate in minutes, and wrapped it in a telehealth layer so the images actually go somewhere useful. We're bringing it to market in phases — starting with a hygiene & inspection kit now, with a Class I clinical imaging kit to follow as a free upgrade once FDA registration is complete. Braeden is in our hero photo — a real kid, real ears, real problem we solved.

Zipline Health is a family company. We know what it costs — in time, money, and anxiety — to manage a child's health without the right tools. We built the tool we wished existed.

FAQ

Common questions

When do orders open?

Checkout isn't live yet. There are three ways to get on the list above: Order Now for the Phase 1 hygiene kit (ships in about 4 months once ordering opens), Order the Full Kit to go straight for the Phase 2 Class I kit (about 12 months, ahead of future Indiegogo backers), or Join the Indiegogo Waiting List for a free, no-payment heads-up when our campaign launches. Within each phase, orders are fulfilled in the sequence received — first ordered, first shipped, in batches of 10+.

Can I get a refund after ordering?

Yes — a full refund is available any time before your order enters production. Once your batch begins production, we'll notify you before funds are committed. Full details will be published in our Terms of Service before checkout goes live.

Is my phone compatible?

The Zipline device works with mid-range and flagship Android phones and tablets, and USB-C iPad models (iPad Pro 2018+, iPad Air 2020+, iPad mini 2021+, iPad 2022+). It is not compatible with any iPhone model, budget or entry-level Android phones, or older Lightning connector iPads. If you receive the device and it is not compatible with your mid-range or flagship Android device or USB-C iPad, contact us within 14 days of delivery for a return — handled at our discretion on a case by case basis.

What's included with each device?

The Phase 1 kit (Order Now) includes the Iris™ imager with your chosen probe and wax removal scoops, plus any Tent™/Snake™ add-ons you order. About 12 months later, every Phase 1 buyer receives a free upgrade: the Jumbo™ ear imaging attachment with a full sizer system (infant through adult) and Class I-listed Tent™/Snake™ — no additional charge. If you choose Order the Full Kit instead, you receive the complete Phase 2 kit as your first shipment. The Zipline app is available to download on Android, iOS, and web at no extra cost. Shipping and applicable tax are added at checkout.

Is the app included? Are there monthly fees?

The Zipline app is included with your device — no subscription required to use it. A small $0.99/month infrastructure fee keeps your cloud account active. AI analysis, storage, and virtual care services are otherwise pay-as-you-go — charges are drawn from your account balance as used. Load what you need, pay only for what you use.

Is this a medical device?

The Phase 1 Iris™ kit is a personal hygiene and inspection tool — not an FDA-registered medical device, and not marketed as one. No FDA establishment registration is required for it, following the same market precedent as other consumer ear cameras. The Phase 2 Jumbo™ kit is a Class I ear imaging device; it ships only after we complete FDA Class I establishment registration and biocompatibility testing. In both phases, images and video can be shared with and reviewed by a healthcare professional of your choice. AI image analysis of ear/skin images is not available in Phase 1 (the app declines and directs you to general AI tools instead); Phase 2 unlocks observational AI descriptions only — no diagnosis, no condition names. Always consult a licensed medical professional for evaluation.

* Important information — please read

Zipline Health's Phase 1 Iris™ imager is a personal hygiene and inspection camera, capturing images and video of the ear canal, skin, and other surfaces. It is not marketed or intended as a medical device in Phase 1. Images and video can be shared with and reviewed by a healthcare professional of your choice — including through virtual visit services available in the Zipline app. Zipline's virtual care options are provided by independent, licensed healthcare providers.

In Phase 1, the app's AI does not analyze ear canal, eardrum, or skin images — it automatically detects these and declines, letting you export the photo for use with general AI tools of your choice (such as Claude, Gemini, or ChatGPT). AI analyzes all other image types normally. Phase 2 (about 12 months out) unlocks observational AI descriptions of ear/skin images only — no condition names, no probabilities, no diagnosis, and not a substitute for evaluation by a licensed medical professional.

If you believe your child or a family member requires urgent medical attention, contact your physician or seek emergency care immediately. Results and image quality may vary based on device positioning and user technique.
